My personal musings about anything that gets on my radar screen--heavily dominated by politics.

John Paul II, RIP

The world has lost a great man today. Whether or not you agreed with him on theological grounds, or even on political matters, John Paul was a man whose tireless advocacy for the "least of our brothers," as well as his forceful leadership for freedom in the world distinguish him as one of the truly great men of the last half of the 20th century.

The world is a smaller, lesser place today with the passing of this man.

I do not pray today for the soul of the Pope--there are few among us any better prepared for the next life than was Karel Wojtyla. I do, however, pray for all of us left on this earth: In light of events of the past four years, and in particular the past few weeks, this is a time in which the world needs strong moral leadership. I also pray that the Church may be able to find a replacement who can finish the great works of this Pope.
