My personal musings about anything that gets on my radar screen--heavily dominated by politics.

Oh, What A Lucky News Cycle

At least for one person.

Do you suppose there is anybody in the world quite so happy as Sandy Berger that the news of the last 48 hours has been dominated by the Pope's death?

Here's a guy who stole classified documents from the National Archives, stashed them in his socks, cut them up by hand with scissors and discarded them, and then lied to the country about the nature of his crime right before the 9/11 Commission issued its final report. Then on Friday he admits all of this as part of his plea bargain through which he surrenders his security clearance for three years and pays a $10,000 fine.

And the local coverage? Didn't see this story on the evening news (which, admittedly, I don't watch very closely), on Saturday the Rocky Mtn News ran the linked story on page A29, and on Sunday the Denver Post re-ran the same story on Page A11. Just a little buried.

Former National Security Advisor admits stealing, destroying key evidence in 9/11 probe, and it runs on page A29.

Oh, what a happy, lucky news cycle for the Clintons.
